Can someone please tell me where the "What an amazing time, what a family" bit from the start of "What You Waiting For?" comes from because it's driving me nuts, Googling it just gets hundreds of web sites with the lyrics up.

I have a feeling that it may be original. Shocking, I know.

Nope, I've heard it used at least once before...

You've heard Ganesh say it, but he was quoting Gwen.

Surely when 'Nesh used it it was ages before the Gwen track came out?

I've just gone looking for it to confirm the date and I can't find it. Bum.

So, was the Gwen track available at the start of December?

Cool. Can you bring a coffee to my house tomorrow morning? Say around 8:30?

Why is it shocking?

Shocking insofar as it does sound awfully familiar. "What a family" has been used to describe the Clintons and the Bachs. I'd be surprised if they were the only ones.

I think it's original -

"The song — co-written with Linda Perry and produced by Nellee Hooper — starts with a sweet, slow piano melody and lyrics that seem to pay tribute to her bandmates in No Doubt ("What an amazing time/ What a family/ How did the years go by?/ Now it's only me").- from here http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/1491456/09282004/no_doubt.jhtml

Although to be honest I though I'd heard it before, I figured it was from a famous awards speech at the Oscars or the like although searching for speeches doesn't turn anything up.

Yeah, no luck looking for the phrase '-Gwen'.
