What have they done to you? So I walk along to the Lock, supposedly with the aim of looking for birthday presents for peeps but knowing there's little chance of that... and I see some whopping great big building work where the market used to be, by the railway bridge. And it looks rather superstore/car-parky. When the fuck was this decided? What happened to the market? OK, so bits of it are still there but if I was a middle-class vegan goth fourteen-year-old I'd actually have a reason to be upset.

I presume LU are still trying to get the go ahead to knock down the Ballroom and the market next to that too? So we could soon be in the situation of a Camden sans markets entirely?

I've decided to invent a new deity, Limina, Goddess of the Gaps (as opposed to The Gap) and She is not pleased with the concreting of Camden.

Anyway, somehow I ended up in Kate Lahav and, honestly officer, they forced me to buy ladies clothes. A Quantum Leap skirt and matching coat in this case. I've been searching fruitlessly for a website for the last half an hour so there might not be one, I may dress up and give you a photo later, right now I'm a bit stinky and in need of a bath.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] janinazew, I may have to ply you with tea on Saturday so we can talk tights and stockings. 'Kay?

You have to provide pics of the skirt and coat just to ease my mind that's not what I'm predictably picturing in my mind.... :)

I spent a lot of my best times around the harbor area, and most of it has changed so dramatically. not only can you not live there unless you're fairly wealthy, but all of the people who have lived in the area for generations are disappearing, being replaced by ugly-but-pricey multi-lodger abodes. it's frustrating.

and the very cool little coffee shop were I and john waters used to be regulars is now a big and uninteresting coffee shop, rumored to be threatened by the arrival of a neighboring starbucks. the OTHER cool little coffee shop died a very slow, painful death and is gone. etc, etc.
