I don't doubt that some social workers do improve the lives of their clients, but I'm afraid that I do think most of them just assuage their own middle-class guilt.
I've a sister who's a social worker and I've nowt against the idea of social workers, but I think they should be held accountable to very high standards and sadly, in this case, that does mean that the court of public opinion comes into play.
