Are 'Chana Dal' Lentils? They were in the vague 'lentil area' of my supermarket...

Nope, they're slightly different to lentils. Lots of Indian places here call chickpeas chana.

My bad too, I thought they were lentils, if only because of "chana dhal". Did it work out anyway?
