(no subject)

A third of people believe a woman is partially or completely responsible for being raped if she has behaved flirtatiously, a survey suggests.

Argh! Stabby stabby STABBY!

Mind you, I suppose that looking at the actual research answers, the more positive spin is that around two-thirds of people surveyed aren't total fuckwits.

UGH.

Can't bring myself to read actual link. What about men who get raped? Are they flirtatiously responsible also?

Yes. The shorts made me do it. His calf muscles were exposed and it just made me lose control.

WHAT THE FUCK?

Erghhhhh.

An even more pessimistic way of reading the research answers is to note that the number of people who believe a woman is completely or partially responsible for being raped if she has behaved flirtatiously is probably not exactly the same people who believe a woman is completely or partially responsible for being raped if she is wearing sexy or revealing clothing, and so on; therefore, the total number of people who gave fuckwitted answers to the various questions probably adds up to even more than a third.

Can we track down these people and SWORD them? They are asking for it, displaying acres of naked stupidity and unveiled callousness.

yes, unfortunately these sorts of attitudes are consistently shown in the survey literature.. l also work for an organisation which does research in this area.. and many of the general population's attitudes about these sorts of issues are incomprehensible...
