It would be quite handy if people who don't mind or even like that they can get DVDs, CDs, use computers or even do anything in their local library other than find row upon row of books could start speaking out in the public discussions on libraries. These things happen at libraries, I've seen it, I work it, but it's like some bibliophile Godwin's Law- in fact, fuck it, I think I'm here first and will be corrected if I'm not:

Pycock's Law: "As an online discussion on libraries grows longer, the probability of someone complaining that libraries are supposed to be places that have books in, and nothing else, approaches 1."

The people that borrow CDs, DVDs and books on tape/CD/MP3 players don't seem to be ones that ever take part in these discussions and never comment in reply to newspaper articles from the out-of-touch complaining about such things. If these services weren't being used then the argument for scrapping them would make sense but otherwise it's unhelpful to any discussion.
