I'm surprised by your loathing of Alan Partridge. I absolutely adore the shows, which are MUCH better after he loses his and starts living at the hotel. Genius. Especially the episode where he finds a new best friend, played by Stephen Mangan. As a fellow misanthropist, I thought this might be right up your street.
