blahflowersIt's bad enough I'm back to work so soon after Christmas, I didn't need to have a Richie Manic dream too.
Yeah, it was definitely him, turning up at the library. He staggered through the door and passed me a reservations card. His eyes rolled up in his cadavorous head and he wore a white ill-fitting suit and no shoes. There was something more of the grave than of gravy about him, could he be dead and continue to starve himself? He turned around and lurched out of the door, and was he humming "You stole the sun from my heart" or was that me?
As soon as he left I ran upstairs, was there someone there I had to tell that Richie was in, some friend or ex-lover who might run after him and try to get him straightened out? On the top floor I pause, unsure of who I'm looking for. I look out the window and there's Richie. He's now changed into an older teenage girl, still painfully thin but at least she's wearing boots. The library has been moved when I wasn't looking to the village I grew up in and, despite the fact there's a zebra crossing literally feet away to her right the girl steps out into the road. Most of the time that wouldn't be a problem but there's a surprising amount of traffic in the village today. Still, despite everything she makes it to the other side of the road in one piece. However, once there she pauses, sways, then spins around and starts shuffling back towards the library entrance. This time though she walks straight in front of a car which flips her high in the air and I wake up.
