Apr. 3rd, 2005 09:09 pmIt can't be easy being a writer for Bremner, Bird and Fortune right now as there's a distinct lack of anything satire-worthy going on at the moment and their need to fill an hour long show, but surely tonight's episode was a bit desperate? The basic gag of Tony Blair and Michael Howard donating sperm so as to produce hundreds of New Labour and Tory supporters in eighteen years time, fair enough, but to tie it in to the very real fact that Charles Kennedy of the Lib Dems and his wife are expecting their first child imminently and to suggest that she's been unfaithful to him with both Tony and Michael even as a joke, that's a bit weak isn't it? Much like the dinner party sketch about religion, with the obligatory joke about being interested in Hinduism because of 'that god with all the arms, it would really make doing the housework so much easier', or that joke suggesting that Ruth Kelly is a man... It makes Nathan Barley look inspired.
