Mar. 26th, 2005 03:45 amHad one of those 'huh?' moments yesterday when my Mum called in the morning and asked if I'd talked to my landlords about the mould on the back wall. I admitted I hadn't as I am very bad at talking to people unless I have some pressing need/excuse to do so, and they've been hiding a lot so I've hardly seen anything of them, despite the fact they live right next door.
Then in the evening I had a phone call, from my landlords, saying they were having a builder in to do some work upstairs and could they bring him round afterwards to look at the mouldy wall. So I said sure and they came round and he looked at the wall then went outside and looked at the back wall and pronounced that the wooden window frames were rotten. He tugged gently at a sill to prove his point and it came away in his hands. So my landlord went away muttering about having to think what to do next, they've spent a lot of money on having several extensions and a new storeroom to their house, so I wonder whether they've got the cash to spare on this house. I suspect that one of two things will happen.
1) They try to put my rent up a whack to cover the cost of repairs caused by nothing I've done.
2) They try to ignore the whole problem and wait for the windows to fall out.
Still, summer's almost here. It's not like I need windows then.
