Another Book Request

Does anyone know any decent science-fiction books that attack religion? I'm getting near to the end of my science-fiction purchasing for The Closed Library and rapidly running out of alternatives, so I might have to buy those awful Left Behind books. If anyone knows any current sci-fi available in Britain that I can use as an alternative that would be gratefully received.

If you can veer into fantasy with some SF underpinnings, Phillip Pullman's HIS DARK MATERIALS books.

Hey, they're closer to SF than the LEFT BEHIND books.

Also probably much of Le Guin.

Heinlen's Revolt in 2100 should be mentioned. It's a classic story of a revolution against an America dominated by religious fundamentalism. Mick Farren's The Armageddon Crazy is another novel about an America run by a religious dictatorship, but has a much grimmer, cynical tone to it. Zelazny's Lord Of Light has people with science powered abilities pretending to be gods.

None of these books attack religion, but they do present a cynical view of organized religion.

I've already got the Pullman books, one of the first things I ordered! I've got as much Le Guin as I could, but it's tricky as I can't buy 'kids' books (based on their classification on the computer) for the 'adult' library. Thanks!

Alas, the Heinlein book is both out of print and in a different category on my system, and I'd already got Lord of Light, but I've put Armageddon Crazy on order now. Thanks!

And just checking my shopping basket before I send off the order, and I've used up all my cash! Which means I don't have to buy those awful 'Left Behind' books! Which means anyone in the borough who wants to read them will have to make do with one of the several copies we have in other libraries...
