If Palpatine knows how to manipulate the Force to creat life and death (and heaven knows it's slightly more interesting than the 'infinite number of clones' idea from the comics) why does he insist on spending the last thirty years of his life looking like something the Wookie dragged in? And why doesn't he use his powers to repair Anakin's injuries? This is what drives me crazy about Lucas' obvious making the story up as he goes along, when he then goes to prequels it makes no logical sense.
